Mysore palace, Mysuru, Karnataka
One of the largest palaces in the country, Mysore Palace or Amba Vilas palace stands tall at Mirza Road, in the heart of Mysore city in Karnataka. The residence of the Wodeyar Mahararaja's of the Mysore state, the palace is a treasure house of exquisite carvings and works of art from all over the world.
The Wadiyar royal family retains a private residential section, and continues to live in parts of the Mysore Palace. The rest of the palace is open to visitors. Of the Seven Entrances to the palace, the main Entrance called 'Jaya Marthanda' opens to the East, 'Jayarama - Balaram' to the North, 'Varaha' and 'Ambavilasa' to the South. Public Entry is from Varaha Gate and Ambavilasa Gate.
Timings: Open Daily from 10.00AM – 5.30 PM
Ther is a 45 minute sound and light show, depicting the 400 year history of Mysuru, in Kannada and English. 15 Minutes Palace Illumination can be seen at the end of the Sound and Light Program Show.
