Gumbaz - Tombs of Tipu Sultan & Hyder Ali, Srirangapatna, Mysore
Located at Srirangapatna, 15 km from Mysore, Karnataka, Gumbaz is the tomb inside a beautiful garden, built in 1784 AD, by Tipu Sulthan for his parents. Later he was also buried here beside his parents in 1799 AD. The architecture of the tomb, in Persian style, is remarkable.
The tombs of the Gumbaz, stands on a 20 metre high platform amidst Lalbagh garden. In the centre is the tomb of Hyder Ali, father of Tipu Sultan, with the tombs of his son Tipu Sultan and wife Fatima Begam (Faks-Un-Nisa) located on either sides. There is also a mosque called as Masjid-E-Aksa, inside the complex.
