Noted Hindustani Vocalist and Padmvibhushan Pandit Jasraj, an exponent in a wide range of rare raags, such as Gyankali, Abiri Todi, Dhanashree, Patdeepki, Purba, Bhavsakh, Devsakh, Gunji Kanada and Charju Ki Malhar, can effortlessly sing across three and a half octaves and has contributed his unique conception of jugal bandi to Indian music. He has composed numerous beautiful 'bandish' and has also conducted extensive research in Haveli Sangeet. Jasraj ji's soul stirring renditions can inspire any listener. The doyen who mesermerised the world of music for close to 80 years passed away at 4.15 am in the morning (local time) in New Jersey on Monday August 17th 2020, after complaining of discomfort. He is survived by his wife Madhura Pandit, daughter Durga Jasraj and son Shaarangdev Pandit.
