Ustad Amjad Ali Khan popularly known as the ‘Sarod Samrat’ is a well-known maestro in the field of playing Sarod. He was born on 9th October, 1945 at Gwalior located in Madhya Pradesh. Amjad Ali Khan has contributed immensely in the field of classical music for which he has been honoured with many awards like Padmashree Award, Sangeet Natak Academy Award, Tansen Award, UNESCO Award, UNICEF National Ambassadorship, Padma Bhushan, International Music Forum Award, etc. He plays the Sarod with his fingernails instead of finger tips.
