Pakalpooram - Temple Fest RitualKerala
'Pakal Pooram' literally meaning morning fest, is an integral ritual of any temple festival in Kerala, where caparisoned elephants line up carrying the 'thidambu' or replica of the diety.
The elephants adorned by golden caparisons on their trunks are accompanied by artists performimg traditional temple arts such as chendamelam, panjavadyam etc. The presence of elephants along with the vibrant beats of the drum roll performance known as 'Chenda Melam' and 'Panjavadyam', including 5 traditional musical instruments enthrall the audience.
