The Rikshaw Run – April 2014
The Rickshaw Run is a pan India auto rickshaw race organized by the UK based company ‘Adventurists'.
The Adventurists provided Auto rickshaws to each of the 70 teams and the participants could get it custom painted in any design by Indian artists.
At the Rickshaw Run each participant could choose various routes to reach the final destination. The route for The Rickshaw Run in April 2014 was from Kochi in the southern state of Kerala to Shillong located in the North East state of Meghalaya.
Most of the participants for the 3500 km pan-Indian adventure were from South Africa, Canada, USA, Denmark, Britain and India.
The race covering 3500 km, crossing over 9 states on the 7 horsepower Auto rickshaw should reach its ultimate destination within the fixed time period of 2 weeks after its flag-off.
The ultimate rule as per the event organizer 'Adventurists' is that there are no rules and the participants are just expected to return the vehicle in the end and on time.
