Deen Mohammad is an international folk musician from Rajasthan. He plays Kamaicha, a bowed musical instrument from Rajasthan and is one of the oldest bowed instruments in the world. He hails from the Manganiar community, which is renowned for its musicians. The Manganiars are groups of hereditary professional musicians, whose music has been supported by wealthy landlords and aristocrats for generations. Though they are muslims, many of their songs are in praise of Hindu deities. The Manganiars traditionally seek the blessings of Lord Krishna before beginning their recital. Deen Mohammad currently serves as the secretary of Thar Lok Kala Sansthan, Rajasthan Institute of Folklore.
