Wayanad, a rural district in Kerala state, southwest India, has recently been in the news with Rahul Gandhi filing nomination from here for the Lok Sabha Elections 2019. Wayanad is a lush green forested region with areas of high altitude, and has a Wildlife Sanctuary in the east.
