Gotipua an Oriya word literally means one boy. Goti means one and pua means boy. Gotipua Dance originated in the 16th century to replace the mahari or the devadsi tradition attached to the temple of Jagannath Puri. It is performed by boys dressed as girls. This recital is performed by artists from Konark Natya Mandap founded by Late Padmashri Guru Gangadhar Pradhan in Konark.
