Teak Museum, Nilambur is considered as the first of its kind in the world and the only one in India. The museum was established in the campus of the sub center of Kerala Forest Research Institute (KFRI) at Nilambur in 1995. Teak poles of different sizes, and qualities collected during the process of thinning of teak plantation along with details of their standard classification are displayed at the museum. In addition to this, methods of seed grading, pre-sowing treatment, preparation of teak stumps, and the different growth stages of teak life cycle are also depicted here. Authentic information on the teak tree, its history, cultivation and utilization of wood; attracts large number of people including students on study tour through out the year.
