The Fourth edition of Malayala Manorama Yuva Mastermind contest 2014 saw a vibrant display of eminence and talent at both college and school levels.
The contest was organized with technical support from Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Centre (IEDC) of Amal Jyothi College of Engineering, Kanjirapally. Amal Jyothi is the only college in the state, which has been granted an IEDC by the Central Science and Technology department.
The event hosted at Rajeev Gandhi Indoor Stadium, Kochi,marked its beginning with the lighting of the lamp by Rev. Fr. Dr. Jose Kannapuzha, Principal of Amal Jyothi College of Engineering, Kanjirapally.
Students of professional colleges in the state including medical, engineering, ITI, polytechnic, arts and science colleges participated under the college category, and students of 9th standard to Plus Two competed under the school category.
The contest was for science and technology projects that could be exhibited as working models and completed with in a period of three months, Study projects that could not be exhibited were not considered.
The competing teams at the event were allowed a maximum of five students and a project guide who must be a teacher/lecturer in the same institution.
The prize money for the college level competition was Rs. 1 lakh, Rs. 60,000(2nd prize) and Rs. 40,000 (3rd prize) respectively.
The prize money for the school level was Rs 50,000 (1st prize), Rs 30,000 (2nd prize) and Rs 20,000 (3rd prize).
Prize winning projects with safety as theme was eligible for a special prize of Rs 60,000 (college level) and Rs 40,000 (school level).
