Rajesh Pillai was an Indian filmmaker best known for his works in Malayalam cinema. He started off his directorial debut with ‘Hridayathil Sookshikkan’ (2005), but the movie didn’t fetch him commercial or critical success. His second movie Traffic (2011) turned to be a huge success setting a new trend in Malayalam cinema, which was later remade in Tamil and Hindi as Chennaiyil Oru Naal and Traffic respectively. His third movie ‘Mili’ (2015) received positive reviews and became an above average grosser at box office. Vettah, a psychological thriller, starring Kunchacko Boban and Manju Warrier is his latest and last film released on 26 Feb 2016. Rajesh Pillai passed away after suffering a non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, a day after his movie released, on 27 February 2016 at a private hospital in Kochi.
