Yusuf Arakkal is an Indian artist who was born in 1945 in Kerala. He belongs to the Arakkal family, the only Muslim royal family of Kerala. He got his diploma in painting from Karnataka Chithrakala Parishath. He has also specialised in graphic print making from National Academy Community Studios, Delhi. He has received a lot of awards including the prestigious Lorenzo De Medici Gold Medal, at Florence international biennale, in Italy, Karnataka Lalithkala academy Award, a national award in 1983, special award at the third Asian Art Biennale Dhaka, Karnataka Lalithkala Academy honour and Raja Ravi Varma Purasakaram in 2012. Currently the artist settled in Bangalore, Karnataka.
