Bandhani is basically the tying and dyeing work of clothes. It is one of the traditional ways of dying in India. Bandhani is practised mainly in Gujarat and Rajasthan.
The colours used in Bandhani are natural. Bright colours like yellow, red, green, blue and black are common in this type of cloth.
Bandhani work can be done in silk, chiffon, georgette, cotton materials. Whereas Silk materials are advised to be washed in mild detergent, the first wash of cotton Bandhani is to be done in salt water. Always dry the material under shade.
