Bommai Kolu is an integral part of Navratri festival, where figurines or 'kolu bommai' mostly of Gods & Goddesses are displayed during the nine days of Navaratri, observed traditionally by Tamil Brahmin women. Everyday women gather in front of the Kolu, sing bhajans or dance in praise of the Gods. Sweets are distributed to whomever comes to see the display.
