Kandob Ses Dance, Cambodia – IFFOK 2014
The tribal community in the Svay Reing province of Cambodia performs this traditional dance for whom grasshopper is believed to be the symbol of luck and prosperity. The gestures of the dance largely imitates the praying mantis (Grasshopper). During this dance they wear costumes with the colour of the grasshoppers. The dancers beat the coconut shell in order to produce attractive sounds. It is usually performed during the Khmer ceremony to bring happiness and joyfulness.
