Gotipua Dance, Orissa IFFOK 2014
The Gotipua dance is an ancient Odissi dance form from the state of Orissa in India. In Oriya language, Goti means single and Pua means boy. As the name indicates this sacred dance is performed only by boys dressed up as girls. Young boys dedicated to the Lord Balunakeswar Dev by their parents are trained to become Gotipua dancers. They start to learn the dance at an early age until their adolescence The dancers perform acrobatic figures inspired by the life of Radha and Krishna.
