Popularly known as the 'Thiruvathira amma' or 'Thiruvathira Muthassi' (Thiruvathira grandmother), Malathy. G. Menon was an ardent propagator of the Kerala ritualistic dance form Thiruvathira kali or Kaikottikali. The dance is performed by women on the auspicious day of Thiruvathira which falls in the Malayalm month Dhanu. It is performed exclusively by women - maidens to evoke the blessings of Lord Shiva to obtain a loving husband, and by married women seeking marriage bliss.

A former school teacher Malathy. G. Menon dedicated her entire life after retirement, for the art form. On a mission to popularize the dance form, she started Parvanendu School of Thiruvathira in Kochi, Kerala in 2009 which has trained thousands of students till date.
