C N Karunakaran hailing from Brahmakulam, near Guruvayur; Kerala, graduated from Govt. School of Arts, Madras. His paintings are symbolic with distinct technique in acrylic. He worked as an instructor at Kalapeetom, Kochi from 1970-1973. Then he started 'Chithrakootam'- the first private Art Gallery in Kerala in1973-1977. He was awarded Kerala Lalitha Kala Academy Fellowship in 2005.
